Esplanada Fazenda da Avó Thomazia

The café-bar by the Peneda swimming beach in the centre of Gois provides a relaxing space for refreshment throughout the summer months. Here you can buy long cool drinks or shots of espresso, and snacks ranging from plates of snails to the most delicious baguettes crammed with fresh salad. The service is extremely friendly and efficient – only a little English is spoken, but the staff are very patient and willing to work out what a hesitant visitor is actually asking for! On a warm summer’s evening there is nothing more pleasant that sitting by the riverside, watching the fish coming up for crumbs, and enjoying a glass of cold beer as the sun goes down.
