Campsite

If you enjoy camping, and want to spend some time in Central Portugal, the campsite at Gois is open all year round, and offers space for tents, caravans and camper-vans, with electricity hook-ups.
The site is attractively terraced, laid to lawns, with plenty of mature trees for shade.
There is a café-bar, open for early morning coffee on the terrace, until late.
The toilet block is well-equipped and maintained, with hot showers included in the price of camping.
The site is kept clean and tidy, even at the busiest times, and has a very friendly family atmosphere. The managers of the campsite are helpful and welcoming, and good English is spoken, making communication easy.
There is a small children’s play-park on site, and plenty of barbeques available.

In August the campsite is a popular destination for Portuguese holiday-makers, and it is not unusual to see families camping with their TV sets, fridges, microwave ovens and many other home comforts! The proximity to your camping neighbours is close at this time of year, but not uncomfortably so.
Also available at the campsite are “open-space” chalets for rent: these are simple wooden structures which comprise a kitchenette, double bedroom (with additional single bed) and bathroom with hot water, and a patio outside.

The campsite is situated centrally in Gois, above the river, and is only a few minutes’ walk down to the riverside café and swimming beach, and over the river to the shops and bars of the town. Coming back up again can take a little longer!
